Description
Biofuels have a great potential to replace a proportion of fossil based liquid fuels used in the transportation industry, but controversy over the feedstock used as well as debate over the true energy and carbon balances has slowed their wide-spread adoption. Dr. Bressler will discuss the production of cellulosic, algae, and cereal grain based biofuels and the concept of integrated biorefineries. His research focuses on the industrial application of chemical, thermal, and biological systems for conversion to 2nd generation green diesel, ethanol, and butanol. His approach is unique, combining micro-biology, biotechnology, and analytical chemistry.
