Linda Duncan was elected a Member of Parliament for Edmonton Strathcona in October of 2008. As one of her duties she has served as a member of the Standing Committee on Environmental and Sustainable Development. Before her election to Parliament, Linda worked as an international environmental law consultant based in Edmonton. Linda also founded the University of Alberta based Environmental Law Centre.

Recently the Standing Committee on Environmental and Sustainable Development held a two-year consultation process to review the impact of Oil Sands Development on Water Resources. Regrettably the review was disbanded without a draft final report or recommendations. Linda intends to release her own summary of findings and recommendations based on her experience on the committee.
