Oilsands Visionaries #2 — Dr. Andrew Leach
Visionary: Dr. Andrew Leach
Panelists: Mike Hudema (Greenpeace), Rick Hyndman [tentative] (Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers), and Ken Chapman (Cambridge Strategies).
Oilsands Visionaries is an unprecedented, three part speakers' series
that invites the world's leading experts on the Alberta Oilsands to
share their perspectives on the future of the resource. Presenting
before a mulit-stakeholder panel, three different speakers will
outline the major challenges confronting the Alberta Oilsands and
their solutions to overcome them. The panel — made up of industry,
government, public policy, an…d environmental leaders — will
provide a critical reflection of the visions outlined from their
unique perspectives, assessing the viability and scope of the
solutions presented.
The series is designed to engage Alberta Oilsands experts in critical
discussion about the future of the resource, in order to inspire and
expose Albertans to the actors and ideas that comprise the most
crucial public policy debate of our time.
This year's visionaries include: Satya Das, author of Green Oil
(Thursday, February 17); Dr. Andrew Leach, Energy, Environment, &
Resource Economics Professor with the Alberta School of Business and
author of the blog Rescuing the Frog (Thursday, March 3); and Dr.
Peter Silverstone, author of World's Greenest Oil (Tuesday, March 15).
Joining them in discussion will be the organizations and personalities
that are at the centre of the oilsands policy debates in Alberta,
including Suncor, Cenovus, Alberta Energy, Athabasca Chipewyan First
Nation, Pembina, Greenpeace, among others.
Hosted by the Oil Sands Student Delegation, Energy Club, and Commerce Energy and Environment Group. Sponsored by the School of Energy and Environment.
